MG Motor Implements Price Hike for 2023: Astor, Hector, and Gloster Models See Increased Prices

india News

MG Motors has recently made an announcement regarding a price hike for the year 2023, affecting several of their popular models such as the MG Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, and Gloster. This increase in prices is primarily a result of the rising input costs that the company has been facing. Alongside the price adjustments, MG Motors has also introduced updates to the variant mix, offering customers new options and features to choose from. Let's take a closer look at the revised prices and variant details for each of these models.

Starting with the MG Astor, customers will notice price hikes ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹41,800, reflecting the increased input costs. The base model, the Style MT variant, now starts at ₹10.82 lakh, representing a price increase of ₹23,800. Conversely, the Savvy CVT variant has undergone a relatively modest price increase of ₹20,000, resulting in a revised starting price of ₹17 lakh.

Within the range of MG Astor variants, the Smart CVT option experienced the most substantial price surge, reaching ₹41,800 and establishing its new price at ₹15.50 lakh. Both manual and automatic transmission options are available for the 1.5-liter petrol engine, providing

customers with the flexibility to choose based on their driving preferences. This engine generates a maximum power of 108 bhp and a peak torque of 144 Nm.

Furthermore, the 1.3-liter turbo petrol variants of the MG Astor have seen price increases of up to ₹36,000. The Smart Turbo AT variant experienced a price increase of ₹32,000, leading to a modified initial price of ₹17.11 lakh, whereas the Sharp Turbo AT variant encountered a price upswing of ₹36,000, commencing at ₹18.06 lakh. The Savvy Turbo AT Red variant is now priced at ₹18.69 lakh, representing an increase of ₹26,000. The turbo engine delivers 138 bhp and 220 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission for smooth performance.

Moving on to the MG Hector, after the successful launch of the next-generation model earlier this year, the Hector and Hector Plus have gained significant sales momentum. However, with the new price adjustments, customers should be aware of the revised pricing. The base-spec variant, the Style 1.5 turbo-petrol MT, has seen a price hike of ₹27,000, now available at a starting price of ₹15 lakh.

witnessed a substantial price increase of ₹61,000. As a result, the highest-spec variant of the Hector will now have a starting price of ₹22.12 lakh. With the aim of offering customers greater choices, MG Motors has reintroduced the Shine lineup, comprising of three variations: Petrol Manual Transmission (MT) priced at ₹16.34 lakh, Petrol Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) priced at ₹17.54 lakh, and Diesel Manual Transmission (MT) priced at ₹18.59 lakh. This expanded range provides customers with a wider array of options to accommodate their specific preferences and requirements.

In the MG Gloster lineup, the 2-wheel drive (2WD) variants have experienced a price increase of ₹60,000, while the 4-wheel drive (4WD) variants have remained unchanged in terms of pricing. Currently, the base model of the Gloster is the Sharp 7 STR 2.0 Turbo 2WD variant, which is now priced at ₹38.08 lakh. The Savvy 7 STR 2.0 Turbo 2WD and Savvy 6 STR 2.0 Turbo 2WD variants have been adjusted to ₹39.60 lakh. However, the highest-end variant, the Gloster Savvy 6 STR 2.0 Twin Turbo 4WD, remains unchanged in price at ₹42.38 lakh.

MG Motors understands the importance of offering a diverse range

of options to cater to different customer preferences. By keeping the prices unchanged for the 4WD variants of the Gloster, MG aims to provide an attractive proposition for those seeking enhanced off-road capabilities and versatility. The Gloster range continues to showcase its impressive features and performance.

The MG Gloster offers a luxurious and spacious cabin, advanced safety technologies, and a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. The 2WD variants, despite the price increase, still provide excellent value for customers who prioritize comfort, style, and a refined driving experience.

In conclusion, MG Motors' decision to implement a price hike for the year 2023 is a response to the rising input costs they have been facing. The revised prices for the MG Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, and Gloster models have been carefully adjusted to strike a balance between affordability and the outstanding features and performance these vehicles offer.

Customers can now explore the updated prices and variant options for each model, enabling them to make an informed decision based on their preferences and budget. MG Motors remains committed to providing exceptional driving experiences and continuously enhancing its product lineup to meet customer expectations in the ever-evolving automotive market.
