MG launches affordable electric car Comet EV in India

(Automobile updates)New car lauch in india : MG Motors has launched its latest affordable electric car, the Comet EV, in India. The car has dual-tone space grey interiors, fabric seat upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 50:50 rear split seat. It also features a fully-digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel.

The MG

Comet EV is constructed on the Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling. The vehicle's body is designed with 17 hot stamping panels, ensuring its strength and durability. Its IP67-rated battery is resistant to water and dust, and the car comes with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera, and impact sensing door unlock.

permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering 42PS of maximum power and 110Nm of peak twisting force, and is paired with a 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery. The car has a claimed range of 230km on a single full charge, with a real-world range of around 170-180km, and a charging time of 7 hours for 0-100% using a 3.3kW charger.

Test drives for the MG Comet EV will begin on April 27, with

starting on May 15, and deliveries commencing from May in select markets. The MG Comet EV boasts a spacious interior and a compact exterior, following the BICO concept. It has a length of 2,974mm, width of 1,505mm, height of 1,640mm, and a wheelbase of 2,010mm. MG claims that the Comet EV's charging cost can be as low as Rs 519 per 1,000km, making it an affordable electric car option.
